Simple Food Preserving - 8am-12pm
Join me and learn how to preserve the fall harvest using basic tools and techniques. During this session, we will learn the skills of dehydrating, fermenting, pickling and also how to make quick jams. We will be using locally sourced ingredients from Avon Hills including apples, maple syrup and garlic. We will also use ingredients that are in abundance from the harvest this fall. For many, food preservation can feel intimidating, but once you learn a few techniques you will be hooked!
Students will leave with a jar of each item we make and all the recipes. All supplies will be provided, but if you have a chef and paring knife please bring it.
This course is a half day class offered in the morning.
You must add the $175 Artists and Makers Camp Registration Fee to check out and register for your selected classes.

Jamie grew up canning and preserving foods with her mom and grandma. The foundation was set, but she really became passionate in her 20’s, after she started her own garden. With the abundance from her home garden as well as local farmer’s markets, she has almost infinite raw materials to work with.
Jamie turned her chemical engineering background and passion for recipes into a cottage food business in which her specialty is unique granola and a variety of preserved foods.
When she isn’t actively cheering on her two student athletes, or volunteering with local groups, she loves being creative with the bounty that comes from her garden.
