No need for a green thumb, there will be something for everyone whether an eager beginner or established farmer. Learn about the 2026 Folk School Garden Series and get excited about getting your hands dirty! Sip a cider and bring your gardening questions for real time answers, discussion and growing community! Kristi and Sam are happy to discuss a wide range of topics, like: vegetables, annual flowers, perennial flowers, natives, soil, design, and more. 

Meet the speakers: 

Kristi Koziolek has a lifetime of interest and 20 years of professional experience as an organic landscape gardener, creating and tending beautiful and edible gardens at residential and restaurant clients throughout Minneapolis & the west metro.

With a passion for nature, growing and eating food and creating art, her business Farm Girl Fine Gardening encompasses it all. Kristi holds her Permaculture Design Certification & was a Master Naturalist Volunteer. Also passionate about floral growing and design, food preservation, teaching needle felting, event planning and sharing everything she knows with her community. 

Sam Oschwald Tilton is a former vegetable farmer and passionate hort educator.

He taught horticulture at Lakeshore Technical College and was the Direct-Market Vegetable Specialist for UW-Extension. and small farm machinery nerd. He works as an organic farm advisoragronomist, helping farmers improve their weed management, soil, and machinery systems. Through his business, Glacial Drift Enterprises, he also delivers hands-on trainings to farmers and organizations around the Midwest. and works with organizations to develop resources. He organizes the Midwest Mechanical Weed Control Field Day and. Sam lives in Minneapolis, where he and enjoys gardening with the neighborhood.
