Folk School on Tap with Heather Hanson on Becoming an Artist: A Story of Return

Join us for Folk School on Tap at Krewe Restaurant in St. Joe
on September 8 from 6pm-8pm.

This month's featured talk will be Becoming an Artist: A Story of Return with Heather Hanson

In this artist talk, Heather Hanson shares her extraordinary journey from Navy linguist and global marketing executive to full-time painter. After surviving breast cancer and losing her studio in a hurricane, she chose to listen inward—and begin again.

Heather’s work is rooted in myth, nature, and the Divine Feminine. Through storytelling and visual reflection, she invites us into the sacred space between identity and becoming—where creativity becomes both healing and homecoming. This is a conversation about transformation, intuition, and the courage it takes to say: I am an artist.

Heather Hanson is a Minnesota-based artist creating intuitive, layered paintings that blend myth, archetype, and natural symbolism. A former Navy linguist, corporate executive, and mother of triplets, her return to painting was born through upheaval, healing, and the fierce call to reclaim her creative voice.

Snag a pizza from Flour & Flower to enjoy during Heather’s talk!

Doughs are limited and go quickly—be sure to order online Sunday evening or early Monday morning before they sell out. The Krewe bar will be open for drinks to pair with your pie. Flour and Flower is directly behind Krewe, so pizza pick up is a breeze.

Heads up: Krewe’s kitchen is closed on Mondays, so pizza is the only food option—ordering ahead is a must!
