Nature Reconnection
The frantic pace of modern life can leave us feeling hurried and distracted. It can keep us in our heads and stifle our breath. It can make us too wired or too fatigued. Further, it can disconnect us from the more-than-human world outside our doors.
This workshop is an invitation to find a greater sense of presence and belonging with our bodies and the greater natural world.
Who is this workshop for?
If you often feel rushed, ungrounded, or disconnected from nature, or even from your own inner world, this workshop is for you.
You might:
spend most of your days indoors or online and long for something that's more grounded.
crave stillness, presence, or a chance to breathe more deeply.
be like Bilbo and feeling "thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread"
This workshop will help you remember that nature is always near: in the breeze through a window, the feeling of your feet on the ground, or the rhythm of your own breath.
This isn't a lecture. It’s a participatory experience. You’ll be gently guided through movement and awareness practices designed to reconnect you with your senses, your body, and the world around you. You’ll be invited to notice, reflect, and share (if you feel moved to).
What students say about Jeffrey’s previous workshops at the Avon Hills Folk School:
“It brought me out of my comfort zone in a good way.”
“Jeffrey was very knowledgeable and clearly researched/explored these topics before.”

During this workshop, you will:
Learn some calming practices for calming your body and nervous system.
Experience nature in new and delightful ways.
Interact and reflect with other participants in a nonjudgmental and curious atmosphere.
Take home practices to continue the work.
Bring a yoga mat to sit on and a journal!
Please dress appropriately for the weather.
Expect to move around a bit though none of it will be athletic.

JEFFREY SCHWINGHAMMER
(he/him)
Jeffrey is an Embodiment Coach and Facilitator who helps people feel more grounded, connected, and reconnect to what matters. His work blends mindful movement, curiosity and honest conversation to support people through change, stress, or just the messiness of being human.
He’s a certified Embodiment Coach and has trained in multiple somatic modalities including Certificate of Embodied Coaching, Embodied Toolkit and the Feldenkrais Method.
What clients say about working with him:
“Through coaching with Jeffrey, I was able to FEEL the difference I was making and give me the confidence to move forward, taking the next steps (in my project).” - Christopher Staser
“Jeffrey helped me speak up and voice my requests and stay in a more relaxed state when under a high stress interaction.” - Debbie G.
“When I came to Jeffrey, I was struggling with discernment. When I would initially meet a person, if I’d feel something is off, I’d sweep that instinct under the rug and force myself into thinking positively about the person. After embodiment practice I am much more able to trust my discernment and be able to step back and take space to think about what I want to do. I feel much more tuned into myself and less confused about situations/people I encounter now.” - Marta H.
What is Embodiment?
Embodiment is the practice of being present and aware in your body—feeling and sensing rather than just thinking your way through life. Through embodiment, you can learn to listen to your truth, regulate stress, express yourself more fully, and make choices that are aligned with your values.
